Hijab Fabrics & Sizes: Chiffon, Jersey and Modal Compared
Separate fabric construction, fibre composition and dimensions. Compare specific hijab formats and choose the width, length and care routine that work for you.

Choosing a hijab is easier when you separate three questions: what it is made from, how the fabric is constructed, and how much length and width you need. A familiar material name alone cannot answer all three.
Keep fibre and fabric terms separate
Jersey describes a knitted construction; CottonWorks defines it as a plain knit. The fibre composition still needs to be checked on the chosen product. A cotton jersey scarf and another jersey blend should not automatically be treated as the same material.
Modal is a fibre term. TENCEL™ is a Lenzing brand used for specified lyocell and modal fibres; Lenzing explains that distinction. Do not describe an unverified generic modal scarf as TENCEL™ or extend a fibre manufacturer’s claims to the finished scarf.
Chiffon and georgette appear in the range’s fabric descriptions. Read the actual composition, finish and dimensions rather than assuming that every similarly named scarf has the same feel, opacity or care requirements.
Compare length and width separately

Lay out a scarf you already wear and compare the rectangle. Longer does not always mean wider. Check that the selected option still gives the stated dimensions and confirm whether accessories are supplied.
Choose a format for your own routine
Think about the way you wrap a scarf, the undercap or other layers you use and the time you want to spend getting ready. A set with a matching cap offers a different package from a scarf sold alone.
Look at the images for colour and drape, but use the description for composition and care. Photos do not establish how a fabric will feel to you or whether it meets your coverage requirements without your usual layers.
Read the care instructions before choosing
A scarf you use frequently should fit your cleaning and storage routine. Follow the exact label instead of assuming every scarf with the same material name can be washed in the same way. Consider any separate care guidance for caps or accessories.

Questions worth asking
Is jersey a fibre like modal?
No. Jersey describes a knit construction; modal describes a fibre. The actual scarf’s composition and construction need to be read together.
Does “maxi” mean a scarf is wider?
Not necessarily. Compare the stated width and length rather than the name alone.
